Today, under a clear blue sky and the gentle rustle of trees, the Appleton family gathered in a moment of peace and purpose. It’s a customary tradition at Appleton Schools to begin each new term not just with plans and meetings, but with prayer, reflection, and unity.
Held outdoors beneath a white tent, as birds chirped softly above and a cool breeze danced between the seats, our Term two mass service began at exactly 11:00 a.m., setting a serene tone for the weeks ahead. In attendance were our directors, teaching staff, support team, and everyone who makes the Appleton heartbeat what it is.
At the heart of the service was Father John Nzau, whose message gently reminded us of the power of two timeless values: Humility and patience. He spoke not from a distant pulpit, but with warmth and relevance using the school as his example.
“Just like children don’t bloom all at once,” he said, “so too must we be patient with ourselves, with one another, and with the journey. Education, like faith, is built day by day. Quietly. Kindly. Humbly.”
His words, simple yet profound, echoed through the audience reminding us that every role matters, from the classroom to the lunch queue, from the head teacher’s desk to the cleaner’s bucket. That every act of service is sacred, and every hand helps build the future we’re shaping together.
The mass concluded at 2:00 p.m. not with loud applause, but with quiet reflection. There was a renewed sense of unity, purpose, and calm.
As the final prayer echoed into the breeze, the Appleton family shared a warm meal, laughter, and simple moments of reconnection. Over plates of food and cold drinks, teachers, staff, and directors caught up on the month-long break, sharing stories, laughs, and plans for the new term ahead.
It was a reminder that beyond the lesson plans and school bells, we are a community first, bound not only by our mission but by the relationships we nurture with each other every day.
As we now look forward to welcoming back our learners, we do so with hearts full of intention. With faith in each other. With humility in our purpose. And with patience for the beautiful work that lies ahead.
